What is the first thing you need to learn when you become a consultant? It depends…

I used to get myself into a lot of trouble when I used to give “yes/no” or very straight forward answers to clients. It may seem deceptive and disingenuous, but clients’ problems are complex. Boiling everything down to simple answers is rejecting the reality of the situation in many cases. Sure, simple answers and solutions do indeed exist, but only after carefully considering all the critical externalities first.

With all the hype with ChatGPT, there’s a lot of talk around job replacement. I offer no real insights here but I have a feeling that it’ll still take some time. Just a reminder - most companies just don’t have the time or money to really look into artificial intelligence tools right now, let alone the know-how.

If your company is still tracking expenses in Microsoft Excel, I don’t think you’ll need to worry just yet. My two cents.
